New MAS Programs at UFL Liechtenstein
We are pleased to inform you about a positive and forward-looking development regarding our Master’s programs.
With effect from April 1, 2026, the Master’s programs developed by DTMD will be transferred to the Private University of the Principality of Liechtenstein (UFL) and will be conducted exclusively by UFL up to the awarding of the Master’s degree.
UFL is fully listed in anabin and therefore officially recognized in Germany and other Bologna countries. The new programs thus meet the “Swiss/Liechtenstein Quality” standard and, due to their integration into a university system, achieve an even higher international reputation than conventional Master’s degrees.
The cooperation with the German Society for Oral Implantology, as well as other existing DTMD partnerships, will remain unchanged.
Key Advantages at a Glance
- Academic degree awarded by a state-recognized and system-accredited university
- Program-specific accredited Master’s degrees
- Increased international recognition and academic value
- Award of 120 ECTS credits
- Recognition via anabin by the German Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education (KMK)
- Traditional MAS degree based on the Swiss/Liechtenstein quality model
- Unchanged course content, curricula, examinations, and study structure
- Same lecturers and academic supervisors
- Continuation of studies via the existing Moodle system
- Recognition and accreditation of both the program and the new university framework
Advantages of the MAS Degree – Compared to Previous Master Degrees (e.g., M.Sc.)
The Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) is the established academic qualification in Switzerland and Liechtenstein for high-quality postgraduate continuing education programs within the Bologna system.
It stands for academic excellence, strong practical relevance, and international comparability. The specializations remain unchanged:
MAS Orthodontics and Aligner Therapy,
MAS Periodontology and Implant Therapy.
The Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) is a postgraduate qualification recognized under Swiss federal law and fully integrated into the Swiss higher education system within the framework of swissuniversities.
It is awarded by leading universities in Switzerland, including ETH Zurich, the University of Bern, and the University of Geneva. UFL follows the Swiss higher education system and is part of the Swiss academic network.
It is particularly noteworthy that the MAS in dentistry represents the established qualification for full-time clinical specialist training at leading dental faculties in Switzerland.
At the University of Bern (ZMK Bern), the Faculty of Medicine awards MAS degrees in six specialties, including:
- a four-year, 240 ECTS program in orthodontics (accredited by NEBEOP and leading to the federal specialist title),
- and a three-year program in periodontology and implantology (accredited by EFP), comprising approximately 4,000 hours of clinical, scientific, and academic training.
The University of Geneva awards MAS degrees with 180–240 ECTS in four dental specialties. These programs are among the most demanding and rigorous clinical training programs in European dentistry.
The Master’s programs at UFL are individually accredited by the university and are currently undergoing an additional accreditation process by AHPGS Freiburg.
With 120 ECTS credits, the program corresponds to or even exceeds the workload of many traditional M.Sc. programs.
We look forward to continuing this journey together in Liechtenstein starting in the summer semester 2026.
